Ambassador Ndilowe receives a cheque from Reston Links
The Reston Virginia chapter of Links Inc. made a donation of $4800.00 to the Embassy of Malawi in support of a water development project which is being implemented by Africare Malawi. Speaking at the presentation ceremony Mr. Darius Mans Africare President welcomed Ambassador Ndilowe and the Links Inc members.
Mr. Mans spoke of Africare’s work in Malawi and the importance of partners such as Links Inc who recognize Africare’s work and support it in the execution of its projects. Mr. Peter M. Pursell, Southern Regional Director Africare spoke on the positive impact Africare has been able to see in the improvement in the quality of life of people living in the areas that have benefited from the treadle water pumps.
The president of Reston Links chapter Ms. Angela Sykes and Ms. Veatrice Baug chair of the International Trends and Services facet, spoke on the importance of helping individuals in need which is one of the core values of Links. Ms. Baug expressed that the Reston chapter willing fully gave to the treadle pump project knowing that it will have a positive impact on women in Malawi.
Before the presentation of the donation Ambassador Ndilowe gave a brief background on Malawi’s development agenda as well as its top priority areas. Ambassador Ndilowe spoke on the water development the government of Malawi is embarking as well as its plans on irrigation. She thanked Africare for being a long standing partner of Malawi and the Reston Links chapter for the generous donation, which she said would not only provide access to clean water but would also help in the income generating activities in the surrounding villages.
