Suspension of Face to Face Consular Services at the Embassy

In response to the prevailing Corona Virus (COVID-19) situation, the Embassy of the Republic of Malawi in Washington, DC wishes to inform the public that, effective immediately, the following services provided by the Embassy will henceforth ONLY be facilitated by mail;
• Visa Applications
• Request for urgent travel document
• Request for Letters of No Objection
• Request for authentication of documents
• Application for Repatriation of Human Remains
• Request for Police Clearance

Malawian Citizens are further notified that the replacement of Passports at the Embassy’s Offices in Washington D.C. has temporarily been suspended until further notice. This decision has been arrived at in order to limit the social and physical interaction that is inherent in the passport renewal process. In order to mitigate inconveniences arising out of this action, Malawians have been provided an opportunity to contact the Embassy on 240 429 2671 in case of emergencies relating to Consular matters. Email inquiries will also be addressed and can be sent to malawippt@gmail.com. General requests and inquiries will be facilitated via email to malawidc@aol.com

Further notice will be provided for Resumption of Normal services. Any other inconvenience caused is deeply regretted.
