Lilongwe, July 12, 2016, Mana: The American pop, Diva Madonna Rouise Siccon on July, 11 2016 at Kamuzu palace in Lilongwe, briefed the State President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika on the progress made on the project which will help to save lives of children as well as improving health services in the country.

According to a press statement made available to Malawi News Agency (Mana) by Presidential Press Secretary, Mgeme Kalilani, said that the construction of the pediatric surgery and intensive care clinic she is funding at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital in Blantyre is making some good progress.

Madonna said that the hospital shall offer free services with a small section for paying patients, once operated in early 2017, and it will be the first intensive care unit for pediatric surgery in Malawi.

“Construction works for the project are almost complete and now I will be moving to the second phase of the project which is procurement of equipment and furnishing to the clinic,” added pop diva Madonna.

On his response, President Mutharika said that he believes that the project shall have an enormous impact on Government programmes that aims at saving lives of children in the country as well as on improving health delivery services in general.

This is the second time Madonna met the President having first met in November 2014 when she presented her plans about the project.
