10/03/2017: CHIEF KACHINDAMOTO RECEIVES AN AWARD FROM VITAL VOICES
Chief Theresa Kachindamoto received the Leadership in Public Life Award for annulling girl child marriages in her district Dedza and sending them back to school. The Award was presented by Vital Voices Global Partnership at their 16th Annual Global Leadership Awards as they celebrated two decades of progress, prosperity and possibility, which was held on March 08th, 2017 at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington D.C, United States of America. Hilary Rodham Clinton co-founded Vital Voices to make space for women's voices to be heard.
The Chief was joined by Malawians in the Diaspora and the Diplomatic Corps from the Embassy of the Republic of Malawi to the USA as she received this prestigious Award. In her speech the chief expressed gratitude to all those who supported her in the cause. She appealed for more support. She said that " If girls are educated, they can be and have whatever they want," She dedicated the Award to her country, Malawi.
